Time is something you cannot get more of. You can go out
and hustle and get some more money, but you cannot get more time.
Be stingy with your time and invest it in areas that
bring the most return.
Your family provides short and long term returns.
You may think, “I have to make money now”, so you neglect your family,
but what happens year down the road, when you become too old to work, or even to take care of yourself? Then you may remember and realize, you should have invested more time in your familial relationships.
As the old saying goes, “The squeaky wheel gets the grease”. What is placing
the most demand on your time?
What is your “squeaky” wheel?
If you have a family, what does the family “thermostat” say? Does your wife require attention? Do your kids require attention? Maybe, you should break away from your hectic schedule and make some time to cater to their needs.
You may have to set up a “meeting” to take care of these relationships. A certain designated block of time.
At most of the companies I’ve done work for, they have set aside a “meeting” time on their calendar, for not a “person to person” meeting, but a “self meeting” to take care of their own stuff.
Guard your time, and keep the main thing the main thing.
